Hello my name is Harvey. My foster mom got me as a stray at 6 weeks old covered in mange. She nursed me back to health and helped me grow up to be the big handsome boy I am today. I am a medium sized guy and solid muscle! I am a high energy, playful, spunky and loving boy. I love my fur (dog) siblings. I have never been around cats though. I would make a wonderful running companion for someone. I need to be in an active home, but I do love being a couch potato too! I am house broken and crate trained ... although I have to admit I love cuddling with my mom in bed at night. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my toys and love spending time with my mom and siblings outside in the yard - I can run and play for days. If you are looking for a young, loving, energetic boy to become part of your family I might be the guy!

I’m sweet Lil’ Pumpkin!  I was named that because I was rescued just before Halloween.  I’m new to ABR and they say I’m the best of both worlds; I’m sweet and calm but also have a fun spunky side. I was a little shy and hesitant at first, but I have started to be more trusting. I’m coming out of my shell and my personality is beginning to shine through.  I know most families want young playful dogs, but I still have a lot of life left in me.  The vet actually thinks I could be younger because my teeth look so good and I’m probably one of those lucky dogs that have premature graying (some of you know what I mean J).  I am house trained and do well in or out of the crate.  I do great on a leash and love to go for walks or even a quick jog.   I love car rides and hanging my head out the window, it’s the best!  My foster family says I’m quiet as a mouse because they haven’t heard me bark once.  I don’t get into any trouble and listen to commands well, I ‘m a really good girl.  I am also good with small children and love attention.  If you are looking for a great companion to hang out with you on the couch or play fetch outside, I’m your girl!  Don’t let all this gray fool you!  Please mention me on your application or let our adoption coordinator know you would like to meet if you’re already approved!

Hello World. Saybin here. I came to ABR in mid April. My former family has some illness of their own and decided I would be better off in a home that is able to care for me.

I escaped from my home and went off on an adventure for a couple of days; what was I thinking? While I was gone I hurt my right rear leg pretty bad. It seems I have a torn cruciate. Not so bad? It’s the ONLY rear leg I have. About 3 years ago something happened and I had to have my right rear leg amputated. I was fine with this until now. I’ve been gimping around on my hurt leg so my foster mom took me to the orthopedic surgeon. After poking and prodding and an x-ray, he determined I need a TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) surgery. This isn’t a cheap surgery, costing around $3,000 +/-. My goodness that’s a lot of money but ABR has stepped up to help me have the surgery. Now, I’m asking for you to help ABR help me. If everyone donates just a little bit it will help so much. Skip the gourmet coffee for a day, eat in instead of going out, there are lots of painless ways to help. And it’s so easy...Paypal is our friend. You can donate online here.

In the meantime, I’ll be hanging out at my foster home where the pack welcomed me with open paws. There is only 1 step for me to get outside and Mom helps me get back in. I can get in on my own but it is so much easier when she helps me.

OK then. Thank you for helping me help Atlanta Boxer Rescue help me.

Say hello to Roscoe! He was an owner surrender to animal control by someone who was no longer able to take care of him and was most likely kept as an outside dog. While he is a big boy and looks intimidating, he is just a love bug who has not received a lot of attention in his past life and just wants to love on everybody and be loved. He loves meeting other dogs and plays like a typical Boxer with his fur sister. They spend a lot of time boxing, face sparing and playing chase so his ideal home will have a submissive female to keep him company and to romp around with.

Roscoe takes his job as a watch dog and protector very seriously when he is on his turf, as a result of him being an outdoor dog. He can be very reactive at windows and does not hesitate to alert his foster mom to any strangers around the house or to any funny noises. His foster mom is constantly working with him everyday to be less reactive and gives him lots of praises when he can break out of his zone. Roscoe walks like a dream on his harness but will occasionally pull as he gets excited seeing other dogs and wants to go up and say hello (which is pretty much everybody). He is getting much better at listening to his foster mom on when he can say hello to dogs and when he needs to stay the course on his walks. Roscoe is house trained, crate trained, knows how to shake and sit (even for his food and treats) and is currently trying to master "down". He is neutered and up to date on all his shots.

At some point in Roscoe's life we believe that he may have had a bad experience with young children. While he does not react negatively to every child he encounters, there are certain criteria that he is opposed to. Unfortunately, since we can't know exactly what his triggers are, Roscoe cannot be placed in a home with children under the age of 15. However, if Roscoe sounds like he fits your lifestyle and his big beautiful brown eyes and love bug personality seem like they are for you, then please mention Roscoe on your application.

Abby is energetic, loves to walk, potty trained, great in her crate or on a leash. Will sit, especially for those treats. Responds well to Stay, patient while she watches you leave and embraces upon your return. Abby loves humans, plays in house n yard, loves kisses and helps you keep your counter clean. She does need patience with other fur partners.

Hi there. My name is Junior. I'm a tad over weight so my daddies have taken to calling me Chunk when they think I can't hear, and have put me on this thing called a diet, that I'm not thrilled about.

I spent a lot of time in the past tied to a tree, so I didn't get to do or see much. Overall I'm a healthy boy. I came to ABR with a icky bacterial and fungal infection in my ears. The infection is under control now and I feel much better.

Now I have the run of the house and yard and I spend all day playing with my two fur sisters and fur brother. They keep me on my toes and I get a lot more exercise than I used to. Because I'm a mature guy I'm very laid back and enjoy a good snooze in the sun soaking up the rays. The daddies take me places on a leash and I behave when they do that. I like a car ride, though I haven't figured out yet why the other fur people like to stick their snorters out the window. I seldom bark, I eat when food is put out for me, I don't chew on anything when the daddies are gone, and I know to go outside to potty and have had no accidents in the house.

I would love a family of my very own! If you think I might be a good fit for your family, please mention me, JUNIOR, on your application

Hey there! I’m Boss, I have been with ABR for a few months and I am excited to announce, I am now ready to find my forever home! You see, my first year of life was not so easy, and I became fearful of strangers. However, with help from my foster mom and foster fur sisters, I have learned how to set my fear aside and interact with new people! Speaking of foster fur sisters, I LOVE mine, in fact I love other dogs. I especially like to run donuts around the yard and wrestle around with them! I enjoy walks and have been very successful at learning good leash behavior. I am potty trained and crate trained. If you are looking for a playful, lovable, loyal forever companion, please mention me, Boss, on the application! I would sure love to meet you!!

Hi my name is Rex and I am a four year old male with natural ears and docked tail. I am looking for my forever home. I am a big boy of about 65 lbs. I am a high energy dog who relates well to my family and love my furry siblings. My favorite game is tug and I would be best suited in a home with older children such a teenagers. I would even love to have another dog to play with also. I am a very loving and loyal companion and am happiest when I am with my human family and thrive on love and affection. I am smart and learn quickly. I have already mastered sit and working on other commands. I am a good car rider and do well in my crate.

My name is Jolie and I am a middle-aged, easygoing boxer girl looking for my forever home. My foster mom says, “I am a very good girl, because I go with the flow and am happy just about anywhere and with anyone (except cats)” I’ve gone through a lot of changes in my life and just know how to roll with the punches! I am currently the only dog in my foster home and don’t mind the extra human attention, but sometimes I miss having a dog friend to play with. You see I am usually pretty laid back and love to lie on my dog bed and catch some Z’s. When I got bored or have to go potty, I just tell my foster mom with a tap dance and a bark and she takes me outside or throws my ball for me. I’m pretty smart because I have even learned to throw my ball for myself. I have also never had an accident in the house, because I know you’re only supposed to go outside. I have very good manners on my leash, but sometimes I see a squirrel or a bird and my excitement gets the best of me; I just have to chase it! For this reason, I would be better off in a home without cats. I do like dogs, but I need a nice slow introduction, so I have time to decide if I want to be friends! I had a boxer brother in my last home that I loved to run and play with, so my ABR family is confident that I can still make new dog friends! In fact, I met a new dog friend on my leash the other day! My foster mom had to remind me that it’s rude to bark at other dogs and I was able to sniff and say “hello” without a problem. If you’re looking for an easygoing 4-legged companion mention me “Jolie” on your application.

Hi! My name is Sable but my foster mom calls me Lovey because I am super lovey. I’m beautiful, playful and really enjoy being loved on. I don’t need much; my favorite things are treats, affection, napping on the sofa, going in the backyard, and playing with my toys. I’m crate trained and house broken and perfect in the house. I’m 9 years old as of March 19th but you’d never guess it. I get around well but do have some hip and knee problems that I take supplements and pain killers for, the vet says that’s the best thing. Otherwise, I’m a super-healthy girl! Before coming to ABR, I spent most of my life locked up in an outdoor pen without much love or contact with people. I really deserve this second chance at life and am adapting well. Because of the way I lived most of life, I’m still learning to trust people and am protective of my foster mom. I need to be introduced to new people and can easily be won over with treats and affection and then I’m all wags and boxer wiggles. I’d do best with a fenced yard to play and do my business instead of walks where I run into other dogs and strangers. I don’t care much for other dogs and should be an only dog. I haven’t been around cats so, I’m not sure if I like them. I don’t like change and can get stressed out so my new home needs to be calm, routine and kid-free. I’m sweet and have become a happy girl since coming to ABR. I know I’m not for everyone, but I deserve love and affection in my golden years and have a lot to give. Can I be your Lovey?

Everybody loves Bindi. And Bindi loves everybody. She plays well with the tiniest Yorkie and the Biggest Great Dane and everybody in between. She is good with cats even though they don’t play well, and she loves all people - especially those little ones. She is incredibly smart and it doesn’t take very long for her to figure out the rules. She loves to play and has plenty of Boxer energy; she loves to run, and jump, and box, and wrestle. She especially loves to play fetch with about anything you can throw - balls, toys, pinecones - if you throw it, she’ll run to get it. When she isn’t playing, she is a calm girl who just wants to lay close and watch tv with you, or look out the window, or just take a nice long nap.

She has a very gentle mouth and is very careful when taking treats from your hand, but her bowl is her bowl and she feels threatened when someone gets close to it while she is eating, probably from a difficult time in her life not too long ago when food was hard to come by. When Bindi came to us she was a very sick girl. She had giardia and kennel cough and was barely able to stand. We thought that was all it was, but as she got better we learned that not all her medical issues were temporary. We don’t know what happened or when, but Bindi has partial paralysis in her back quarters. It isn’t noticeable while she is running and playing, but she wobbles a little when she sits, and she doesn’t have full control of her bladder and bowels. She also can’t squat so she isn’t able to ’eliminate’ completely on her own. So having Bindi is a little like having a toddler - she has to be in a diaper. And once a day she needs help emptying her bladder so she doesn’t get a urinary infection. She doesn’t mind her diaper, and she doesn’t try to take it off. She can even go awhile without it on but keeping it on is generally a better idea. If she gets excited or frightened, she will tense her stomach muscles, and there will be an accident if she has a bare bottom. It is surprising how quickly that diaper is just a normal part of life and she is just a normal, energetic, loving, sweet puppy.

About everybody who meets Bindi falls in love with her. It will just take a special someone willing to take the extra time and effort to care for her. And you might just love her a little bit more, because she needs you a little bit more than a ‘normal’ dog does.
