A Bevy of Beautiful Boxers

Our ABR rescue volunteers have been hard at work. Our number one mission is to save Boxers and find new homes for them, and since you last read "Boxer Briefs," we've had a few more pups join our foster network. Butch, a very charming 2-year-old Brindle, came to Atlanta Boxer Rescue after roaming around the streets. A family took him in and did everything they could to find his owners, finally deciding to have the local animal control shelter take over. Luckily, the shelter got in touch with us, and he's in a good foster home, waiting for his new forever family. Another Brindle ready for a forever family is Chloe, a 3-year-old female who was also a stray from animal control. Chloe is crate-trained and learning the 'proper' way to walk on a leash. She's currently in our ABR infirmary, and would love some special attention from you.

Of course, special attention is also what puppies need, and 11-month-old Cooper is certain to return all the attention you give him. He's a flashy Fawn, house-broken, leash trained, AND crate trained. And he's ready to become the perfect addition to a family with kids, cats, other dogs, or just you! And last, but by no means least, Tyson rounds out our Boxer friends as a wonderful 3-year-old reverse Brindle who is also house trained, leash trained, and obedient. He loves his toy ball, and would love to become your new family addition. For more information about Tyson, Cooper, Chloe, or Butch, be sure to click over to our website and read all about them. And when you're ready, you can fill out an adoption application online - just be sure to mention the name of the dog you're most interested in on your application. Woof!

Fun Upcoming Events

It’s time to get your climb on! On Friday, August 22nd from 7-10pm, Atlanta Boxer Rescue brings you “Climbing For A Cause.” For just $25, you will have the chance to experience the best indoor rock-climbing gym in the Southeast. Equipment will be provided, as well as belayers, so all you have to do is gear-up and start climbing! Did you know that Atlanta has a dog-friendly coffee shop? And nothing goes better with coffee and dogs than music! Come out to BoxerStock on Saturday, September 27th at the ParkGrounds Coffee Shop in Reynoldstown to introduce yourself to this experience. We have a full-day’s worth of great music set for you, starting at 12:00. Our lineup includes Nashville recording artists Natalie Tidwell and Jessica Campbell, as well as Atlanta favorites Caroline Aiken and Trances Arc. Bring your favorite pooch along to play in the back yard while you enjoy the music and ParkGrounds’ full menu of breakfast favorites all day, lunch and dinner sandwiches, and coffee, tea and other beverages. One $20 ticket will get you admission for the entire day and your first raffle ticket, and we’ll keep the music rolling until 10:00pm, so you’ll have plenty of chances to stop by. The raffles throughout the day will give you a chance to take home a prize, too. Of course, you can visit our website to buy your tickets and order your limited-edition tie-dyed BoxerStock t-shirt, too.

Adopted!

Less than five weeks after establishing the first Boxer rescue organization based in metro-Atlanta, Atlanta Boxer Rescue has completed the adoption process for its first rescue Boxer. Tiger Lily is an 8-month-old Brindle female Boxer who was a stray roaming the streets. She was picked up by a shelter and held to see if her owners would come reclaim her. When it became evident that nobody wanted her, she was put up for rescue. Recognizing the particular shelter as one with a high kill rate, ABR quickly moved to make Tiger Lily their first rescue Boxer. She came into the ABR foster network, received a full physical, all of her shots and vaccinations, and was spayed.

In short time, an Atlanta family came looking for a new dog to fill the deep void created when their life-long family dog passed away. The family of four, with number 5 on the way, immediately fell in love with Tiger Lily. “It was beyond a perfect match. I couldn’t be happier about our first placement,” says April Fayette, ABR Adoption Coordinator. Tiger Lily is excited about getting lots of love and excitement from her new adopters, and is ready to make her forever home a house of Boxer joy.

Atlanta Boxer Rescue is looking for a "Few Good Homes"

Actually ABR is looking for many good, quality foster homes. We are officially open for business with three foster homes. It's a great start but the more foster homes we have, the more Boxers we can save. If your love of the breed translates to wanting to help save the breed, then we would love to have you! Opening your homes to deserving Boxers who, for the most part, have not really known what a "home" is can be an extremely rewarding experience. Fostering involves training, vetting, and mostly, loving a Boxer. Some fit right in, but most come frightened and need to realize that we are there to help and not hurt them. Through the love of a foster home, our rescues will learn manners and training, but mostly that they are worthy of love and a forever home. If you can provide just that, please go to our website and fill out a foster application. Once you submit the application, someone from ABR will process it and contact your references. Then they will contact you for a telephone interview and set up a home visit. The home visit is the last hurdle to getting your first foster. We are excited and look forward to hearing from you!
