New Boxers and Adopted Boxers

It's been a busy couple of weeks here at ABR. We said goodbye to 4 of our dogs who found their forever homes: Cooper who was adopted on 8/10/08, Tyson who went to his forever home on 8/15/08 and Miller and Butch who were both adopted on 8/16/08.

With that said we have two new dogs to introduce to you: Romeo who came to us from animal control, an absolutely gorgeous boy who is settling into his foster home and will be available for adoption on September 2nd. We also have Pebbles who has just been spayed and had a nasty tumor removed from her leg, currently we are awaiting pathology results so keep your paws crossed that it is nothing serious. Pebbles is Miss Personality Plus and she will also be available on September 2nd for adoption. Keep checking our infirmary page for updates on Pebbles.

Don't hesitate to put your adoption applications in for these great dogs - you won't be disappointed!

Climbing for a Cause

It’s time to get your climb on! On Friday, August 22nd from 7-10pm, Atlanta Boxer Rescue brings you “Climbing For A Cause.” For just $25, you will have the chance to experience the best indoor rock-climbing gym in the Southeast. Equipment will be provided, as well as belayers, so all you have to do is gear-up and start climbing! And don’t worry if you’ve never climbed before - there will be belayers on hand to make it easy for you, and you will thoroughly enjoy your time! Atlanta Rocks! is giving us use of the whole gym, so you experienced climbers can pick and choose your own routes (Note - you must be belay checked by Atlanta Rocks! staff before you can climb and belay on your own). This is a great chance to show your Boxer support, even if you don’t have a Boxer. And if you ARE interested in a Boxer, our ABR volunteers will be there to answer your questions. We've only got room for 40 climbers, so get your ticket early if you want to be assured a spot. As a bonus, all pre-paid climbers will get a free raffle ticket! Download our Poster here.

Foster Homes and Temporary Fosters Needed

ABR is looking for many good, quality foster homes. We need both full time fosters and also homes that can take in dogs during weekends, holidays and emergencies. These generally would be 2-4 day stays with you. The more foster homes we have, the more Boxers we can save! If your love of the breed translates to wanting to help save these precious Boxers, then we would love to have you on our team! Opening your home to a deserving Boxer who, for the most part, has not really known what "home" means is an extremely rewarding experience. Fostering could involve training, transporting to the vet, and meeting the potential adopting family, but mostly, it involves loving a Boxer. Some fit right in, but a lot come frightened and need to realize that we are there to help. Through the love of a foster home, our rescues learn manners, but mostly that they are worthy of love and a forever home. If you can provide just that, please go to our website and fill out a foster application. Once you submit the application, someone from ABR will process it and contact your references. Then they will contact you for a telephone interview and set up a home visit. The home visit is the last hurdle to getting your first foster. We are excited and look forward to hearing from you!
