BoxerStock - Music, Friends, Boxers...Life is Good

We're counting down, and there is LESS THAN ONE WEEK left until we present the first annual BoxerStock music festival. This coming Saturday, September 27th, Atlanta Boxer Rescue will be rockin' and rollin' the ParkGrounds Coffee Shop in Reynoldstown from 12:00pm to 10:00pm. Tickets are $20.00 for an all-day admission and one free raffle ticket, and can be purchased online at www.atlantaboxerrescue.org. Bring your favorite pooch along to play outside in Parkgrounds’ dog park and enjoy live music inside provided by our talented lineup of musicians including Nashville recording artists Natalie Tidwell and Jessica Campbell, and Atlanta favorites Caroline Aiken and Trances Arc, just to name a few.

ParkGrounds features a full menu of breakfast favorites all day, lunch and dinner sandwiches, desserts, and a wide variety of coffee, tea, and other beverages. Raffle prizes, including a variety of gift baskets and restaurant gift cards, will be given away throughout the day, and additional raffle tickets can be purchased during the event. And in addition to the music and prizes, we will have Claudia Clifton of Semper Fi Boxers fielding your questions on dog training, Mike Clifton roaming the grounds taking pictures of you with your dog or favorite musician, and Bronzed Memories on site to make keepsake bronzed paw prints of your pup’s feet. Microchips will be available for $25 - please pre-order to make sure we have enough on hand. For a listing of our entire line up of musicians or directions to the event, please visit our website.

Boxer Beauty Shop

Scrub-a-dub-dub. A Boxer in the tub! Tired of washing your dog and getting water and shampoo slung all over the house when they decide to shake or make a run for it? Well, at “Bubbles for Boxers” at Urban Pet Supply, we’ll do the washin’ for you! The Atlanta Boxer Rescue experts will be on hand Saturday, October 4th, from 12-4pm to give your dog a good scrub in the tub. We'll have a professional groomer there to trim nails in case your dog hates that as much as mine! And we will be offering microchips, if your dog needs one. A BoxerWash is $20, and if we don’t wash your dog, we’d love for you to consider a $15 donation - dogs are welcome either way. Microchips are $25 - please pre-order to make sure we have enough on hand.

We’ll have special treats for the dogs and wine and cheese for you, as well as plenty of chances for you to meet fellow dog owners and learn more about Atlanta Boxer Rescue and our rescue efforts in Atlanta. We'll be drawing for a prize so you've got a chance to take home something fun too! And Urban Pet Supply has lots of unique items for your pup too!. The Atlanta Boxer Rescue website has all the details, plus a chance to pre-order your pup’s wash or microchip. Woof!

New Faces to Love

Every successful Boxer adoption opens up a spot in our foster network to rescue another Boxer. Our newest rescues are Molly, Maggie, and Pacer!

Molly is a timid fawn girl who is approximately 2 years old. She is friendly to all dogs, cats and children - she's what you might call an Omega dog. We will look for an owner who has the patience to help this little girl bloom into a happy, playful, and trusting Boxer!

Maggie, at about 6 or 7 years old, is the elder in our group. She is mature and laid back. She'll make a perfect companion for someone who doesn't have the patience to train a young fiesty dog. She walks nicely on a leash and loves to just chill at your side. Both girls are up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and spayed.

Our newest addition, Pacer, just came to us on Sunday! He's a man's dog! A 4-5 year old big boy at 68 pounds. He's brindle with white socks. He's up to date on all his shots, heartworm negative and neutered. He does have some arthritis and will need proper care to live a long, full, happy life.

Will you be the lucky new parent to any of them? If interested, please visit our website and fill out an application.

The Pitter-Patter of Little Paws

It's amazing what Atlanta Boxer Rescue has done in it's three short months of existence. We have found forever homes for six Boxers, and we are happy to report that as of the publication date of this edition of Boxer Briefs, we have adopted our seventh Boxer, Pebbles, to a happy and loving home! The rescues come from all sorts of situations. Some of them were saved from eminent death at high-kill shelters, while others were given up by their previous owners. Our volunteers work tirelessly to find the right home for each Boxer. There is nothing more rewarding than to see these beautiful animals find forever homes, and we love to get that first note and photo from the new happy family about how quickly their newest addition became part of their family. That is a testament to our volunteers who review applications, check references, and make home visits to ensure the perfect fit between adopter and rescue! What's more, many of the adopters have joined Atlanta Boxer Meetup Group to be sure they have play dates and friends for their new furkids. It is thrilling, satisfying and rewarding to know that our mission of saving Boxer lives is being fulfilled. These are "Happy Tails" indeed!

The Heart of a Team that Saves Lives

The Board of Directors of Atlanta Boxer Rescue would like to extend a public “THANK YOU” to all of the great volunteers who generously give of their time, talent, and resources to make our operation a success. Often, thank you isn't said enough to those who help, but should be at every chance. There are many faces that make up the volunteers at ABR, from transporters to fosters, home visitors to those who help with our adoption process, general operations, and fundraising. These are but a few of the folks who have made it all possible.

Without the team of volunteers we have it would be impossible to save any Boxer. There is no insignificant role here at ABR. Every job no matter how small results in an enormous event....Adoption! Every member of our team has a direct hand in that adoption, and for that Kudos to all of you! If you aren't currently one of our terrific volunteers, what are you waiting for?! Who wouldn't want to be part of such a happy event? Even if you only have one hour a month, we have a job for you! So come on aboard and spend some time with awesome Boxers and wonderful people. We promise you won't ever feel underappreciated.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Fostering...A Rewarding Call

Any rescue is only as good as it's foster homes. Point blank. So far we've been blessed with fabulous foster homes, but I'm sure some of you may ask why doesn't ABR have more dogs available. That's easy to answer, we simply have no place to put more. We currently have 5 full time foster homes and three temporary foster homes. We simply can't expand and save more Boxers with that number. We need more...we need you! If you've ever considered fostering or said someday, well now is the time. Think of the pride you will feel knowing you were there in the beginning when a fledgling rescue got off the ground. Think of the satisfaction you will feel when you take in a poor Boxer and turn it into a healthy happy pet. Think of the love you'll get from that same rescue and the family who adopts it from you. For you will be their hero too! Please help us. Please don't let us turn another needy Boxer away because we don't have the room. Makes me think of Christmas when Mary and Joseph were turned away, but not by the animals in the stable. Let's not turn our backs on another broken soul. Please if you can, open your home and your hearts. Help us make a difference in another life. Many of you may own rescue dogs. Aren't you glad there was a foster home available for your baby? Think it over and then go to our website and fill out a Foster Application. Join a great cause...help save the life of a Boxer in need! Thank you so much for considering this noble job.

As always, thanks for your interest in Atlanta Boxer Rescue.
